The cheapest domain registrar in Uganda depends on the extension you want. In our 21 July 2026 check, Truehost remains the lowest first-year price for a standard .com among the six Uganda-focused providers compared.
We also offer the cheapest renewal prices for most extensions.
The official UG Registry published the lowest annual price for a direct .ug domain.
Renewal changes the result. A cheap first year can be followed by a much higher annual bill, while another registrar may charge the same amount for registration and renewal.

The five lower-cost .com registrars
Five providers sit in the lower-priced part of this comparison.
Their first-year prices are close enough that renewal terms, payment methods and setup support can be more important than a small difference in registration cost.
1) Truehost: the lowest first-year price and better renewals
Truehost takes first place for a standard .com registration among the six providers.
The live prices are:
Registration price is USh 29,450,
Renewal price is USh 45,144.
Domain transfer is USh 42,636
Registration and renewal are separate charges. The first figure gets the available name into your account for the initial term. The second is what keeps it active for another year.
Do not compare the Truehost registration price with another provider’s renewal price, or vice versa. If you expect to keep the domain for at least two years, add both live figures together and include any VAT shown at checkout.
The domain can sit in the same account as your hosting, website and professional email.
That’s important when you want one support route for tasks such as:
pointing nameservers to a hosting account;
adding website, verification or email DNS records;
activating SSL after the website goes live;
setting renewal reminders; and
connecting the domain to business email.
We support various payment methods including Mobile Money, bank and card payments.
These local payment paths can be simpler than paying an international registrar in dollars and absorbing a separate card conversion rate.
Truehost is the strongest fit for a first-time buyer who wants a low .com entry price and expects to add hosting, a website or email.
2) Bulamu: local billing and several payment choices
Bulamu Web Hosting publishes a standard .com price of UGX 63,713 per year.
That is close to Afriregister, Salama and Isazeni, so payment convenience and after-purchase help may decide whether it is the better option for you.
Bulamu lists MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, card and PayPal.
It also presents domain registration as one part of launching a working website, alongside DNS configuration, web hosting, SSL and business email.
That approach helps if you do not want to register the domain and then work out the technical setup alone.
A domain without the correct DNS records will not open a website or receive email, even though the registration itself is active.
Bulamu’s public price card did not show a separate .com renewal price during our check.
That prevents a reliable two-year comparison.
Before placing the order, confirm:
the amount due at the first renewal;
whether the quoted UGX 63,713 includes tax;
the transfer and redemption fees;
whether WHOIS privacy costs extra; and
which DNS changes you can make directly from the client account.
Bulamu is a practical option when Mobile Money choice and local setup help matter. The unresolved question is what exact amount will be charged at the first renewal.
3) Afriregister: the easiest .com cost to budget
Afriregister publishes UGX 64,000 for .com registration and UGX 64,000 for renewal. Its listed transfer fee is also UGX 64,000 and includes renewal.
The first two years of a standard .com would total UGX 128,000 at the published rates, before any taxes or payment charges.
You do not need to estimate the second year from a vague “starting from” statement.
Afriregister’s registration agreement lists PayPal, cash and bank transfers as possible payment methods.
It also describes advance expiry reminders, including notices roughly one month and one week before expiration for applicable domains.
Afriregister charges UGX 129,500 per year for .ug registration and renewal. The UG Registry publishes UGX 95,000 for the same extension, so Afriregister’s strongest price position in this comparison is its .com, not .ug.
Choose Afriregister when a predictable .com renewal is more useful than the lowest promotional first year. For .ug, its price was UGX 34,500 above the registry’s published annual rate when checked.
4) Salama Hosting: the clearest view of expiry costs
Salama publishes three different stages of .com pricing:

The first two years total UGX 137,800 at those published rates. If the name reaches redemption, recovery costs considerably more than an ordinary renewal.
Redemption is a recovery stage that may occur after a domain expires and passes through the registrar’s normal renewal or grace process. The exact lifecycle depends on the extension and registrar terms.
You should still renew before expiry. But publishing the redemption price makes the consequence of a missed renewal visible before you buy.
Salama states that registrations include free DNS management, WHOIS privacy protection and domain theft protection. Those features address different jobs:
DNS management lets you connect the domain to websites and email services.
WHOIS privacy can reduce public exposure of eligible registrant contact data.
Theft protection helps prevent an unauthorised transfer.
Availability can differ by extension because registry rules may limit privacy or transfers. Confirm that each inclusion applies to the exact domain you are buying.
Salama suits buyers who want the renewal and recovery costs stated upfront. Its normal .com renewal is higher than registration, and its .ug renewal rises from UGX 130,000 to UGX 145,600.
5) Isazeni Solutions: flat pricing with a page conflict
Isazeni’s detailed table lists UGX 65,500 for .com registration, transfer and renewal. At that price, two years would total UGX 131,000 before any extra charges.
Another section on the same page describes a .com as costing approximately UGX 55,000 per year. Because the figures conflict, UGX 65,500 is the safer planning amount. It comes from the more detailed registration, transfer and renewal table.
Do not assume the lower figure will be honoured. Ask Isazeni to confirm the current cart total and renewal charge in writing or verify both during checkout.
Isazeni provides services beyond domain registration, including web design, software, ICT support and digital marketing. A Kampala business that wants one supplier for several of those jobs may accept a small domain-price difference for simpler coordination.
That value disappears if you only need the domain and must contact support to resolve basic price ambiguity.
Isazeni fits best when you are already considering it for a broader website, software or marketing project. Resolve the conflicting domain prices before making the domain part of that order.
A higher-priced .com option
6) Native Ventures: promotions can hide a renewal jump
Native Ventures publishes .com registration at UGX 92,709 and renewal at UGX 168,690.
Its two-year total is therefore UGX 261,399 before the stated ICANN fee or other checkout charges.
That is more than double Afriregister’s published two-year .com cost in this comparison.
Native also displays heavily discounted first-year prices for extensions such as .online, .shop and .store. The page showed some registrations close to UGX 8,000, followed by renewals above UGX 250,000.
A low promotional extension can still work for a short campaign or experimental project. It is a poor bargain for a permanent company website if you cannot comfortably pay the renewal rate.
Use this three-year check for any promotional extension:
Three-year cost = first-year registration + two standard renewals + unavoidable fees
Native may suit a buyer who wants a less common extension that the cheaper local providers do not list. It is not the economical choice for a standard .com or .ug based on the prices published during this check.
Consider Native when you need a specific specialist extension and have calculated its full renewal cost. Its .com and .ug prices were the highest among the six provider pages reviewed.
.ug has a different price winner
The official UG Registry publishes direct .ug registration at UGX 95,000 per year, VAT inclusive.
That was the lowest public annual .ug rate we found.

Buying directly from the registry can minimise the registration fee.
Buying from a registrar that also handles hosting, DNS and business email may reduce the work required after registration. Decide whether the service difference is worth the additional annual cost.
Check four costs and controls before paying
Use the same checks for every registrar so the promotional price does not make the decision by itself.
Calculate at least two years. Add registration and the first renewal for a normal domain. For a heavily discounted newer extension, calculate three years. Include VAT, ICANN charges, payment fees and currency conversion when they apply.
Search the exact name. Listed extension prices usually apply to standard available domains. Short or commercially valuable names may be marked as premium and priced differently.
Inspect the management controls. Confirm that you can reach the nameservers, DNS records, domain lock, automatic renewal, registrant details and transfer authorisation code you will need. If every routine change requires a support ticket, a small saving can become inconvenient.
Plan for renewal. A lapsed domain can interrupt the website and email addresses attached to it. Keep the registrant email current, enable reminders and check that the payment method will still work when renewal is due.
Pick the extension first, then the cheapest suitable provider
Choose .com when you want the most familiar global business ending. Choose .ug when a short Ugandan identity is more important.
A .co.ug can also work for a locally positioned company.
If the same brand is available in .com and .ug, consider registering both. Use one as the main address and redirect the other.
The second registration costs more, but it can prevent confusion when customers guess the other extension.
For a standard .com, Truehost offers the lowest first-year price in this six-provider check. For a direct .ug, the UG Registry published the lowest annual rate.
Your final choice should then account for renewal, payment convenience and how much help you need connecting the domain to a website and email.
