Yes, but upgrading domains (e.g. from .xyz to .com) means buying a new domain, not switching the current one. You can point both to the same site using DNS settings.

❔Can I transfer my free domain name to another registrar?
Yes, you can — but there’s a 60-day rule.
All domain names, including the free ones from Truehost, are subject to a 60-day lock (as per global ICANN regulations).
After 60 days, you’re free to transfer your domain to another provider, if you choose.
You will, however, be responsible for any transfer or renewal fees charged by the new registrar.
